Sacred Lands

Introduction
I picked up the project yet again in hopes to finish it, though Design has always been a problem, I have a basic idea on how i want the story to go, just hard to fill in the game in between to create a touching, and entertaining story line for the players. That is where I was hoping I could get some input from the community! THis thread however will hold alot of spoilers for the game itself. So bewarned. IF you are interested in helping out, be blunt, and truthful. I make games for you the player so would love to learn the aspects of game writing. Im sorry for my GRammer in most cases im not that great at spelling/English grammer (even though i am american tongue.gif) Im more of a thinker lol. Now here we GO!

Sacred Lands is a Sci Fi/Fantasy Open World game. IT will have a Fast paced ABS system along with plenty of Quests along the way. Right now I am designing the MAIN Story line from start to finish, then will put in side quests along the way. Working on bringing the Main character (DOX) to live along with showing the relation ship with Seren(Best friend/NOT a love interest) through the depths of hell and back again.

The basic IDEA is Dox awakes years ago without no memory of his past life. Now years later living as a Hired Gun for a city to help prevent the Zombie hordes from killing everyone, he finds himself trying to search for a lost past.

The Sacred Lands
The title the Sacred Lands, represent the many worlds in the universe. Each world has its own energy source, that gives life to the planet, controls the flow of things. If someone was to disrupt each plants "Arc"(which is like a magic based ancient control station) they would throw off the balance to that world.

Factions

Maji:
A group a Magic using warriors, who serve to instill peace across the worlds.

Hajin:
Ex- Maji's mostly who wants to absorb each planets Energy, through the ARC, to rule over all races and worlds.
Basic Story

The wasteland, A place of hardship,greed, mistrust and apathy fighting for scraps these people live there lives in ignorence of an epic stage set before them that would decide there fate as a planet, a hero, a journey a story told many times. the fate of the world rests on your shoulders. The fight will be long, and the people will be merciless, no glory do you have to gain nor fame or fortune, But will you fight?
It is a tale told by many a man, the story of a hero vanquishing evil. good versus evil, But we know the world isent that black and white, the story not so simple the players not so strightforward. a hero yes but for what means? a hero who struggles to remember his past and a brother to bring him closer and a friend by his side. the story is told time and time again but in the end with no clear good or evil who will prevail?

Question of the Century. I have two Major ideas but i can only follow one path, so would love to get some input.

Lets get some Pros and Cons of MMORPG Themes

When the great minds of Unrivaledneo and Timpac get together, a great template is born. Ok maybe not THAT great but it has been the building block of the Sacred Lands Heros and Enemys. They may not Look like much but with the right artist can turn into some beautiful char-sets.

Since Wolfie keeps saying Im never here on the forums, decided to post my WIP design doc, if alot of this dont make sence im sorry, just chichen scratch for me mostly but im always open to ideas and suggestions.



Battle System:
A Side Battle System similar to popular Final Fantasy and Crono Triger Games.
Instead of the Command Bar that shows up for players turn, there will be a Ring Menu that goes around the whom ever player turn it is, Able to Choose Attack, Defend, Magic Skill, Guardian, Item, or what ever commands that player has.

Guardian System, similar to a Limitbreak system, the Player gains points into this bar and when filled able to summon there inner clone of there guardian they are “combined” with. The Guadian Clone itself start of small but over time and use they lvl up and grow becoming more and more powerful with the user.

The Battle itself will be Very Animated, Different Poses for different skills. Skill effects such as Jump, Throw Friend, Player Co-Op attacks, where able to designate what player attack and at what time, able to have all 4 players attack eith all at once or in a pattern depending on the skill

Seeing how The enemys will be on the map so you are able to pick yours fight, Element of surprise is always the best, being able to sneak up on you enemy and get a pre attack always helps the flow of battle. Depending on if you get attack from behind or straight on depends on the formation of you party, Maybe even is a mob jumps in the middle of the group, could have him corner, or visa versa.

All Players and some Enemys will have a auto chance to parry an melee attack.

Menu System:

Skill System:
Skills will be learned Via Blah(Don’t know yet) Skills have there own EXP bar, the ability to level up and sometime evole into a new and improve spell. EX: Once Fire1 reaches lvl 20 it will either create or Spawn Fire 2(Group Spell)

New Game/Save/Load/Credits System:
When you first open up the game, you will be shows a Tome with etched Writing Spelling out Sacred Lands. You will be Prompt a Mini Menu. New Game/Continue/End Game and Credits.

New Game- When you choose this option the Book will Open to start the Intro we Have written up, It will ade in text on one page and a picture on the other until it goes through the whole intro.

Continue- Choosing this option, the Book will Open again to show a Save Slection window on one page, highlighting a Saved Game will show you Data on the other page, Map Name, chatacters in Party, Gold, Levels and other stuff.

End Game- The Book Will center itself and fade out. Closing the game

Credits- Will Open the book fading in and Out the list of credits.

Misc Systems

Adventure System/Tool:
Outta combat the player will be able use tools to help move around dungeons, Let it be a sword to cut down bushes, arrows to stun enemys/or hit switches. Let alone a Run/Jump system to cross big gaps, jump from cliff to cliff, Or to just move around the world advoiding enemys.
A hud will be shown to show what tool is currently equipped then using the Q,E keys you can switch back n forth, and the W key uses the Tool.
For Running and Jumping, Two keys will be used to control both.

Quest Log:
Quest Log is cut down into sections.
Quest Name: What quest you are currently on.
Objective: What you gotta donext , let it be one task or many.
Then a sorta Guide or Ref on what you have done, or been. Important Notes, names, etc.

Lupen Day/Night w/NPC Support:
A dynamic Day night system with Roating light effect, switch to Stop/Start Shadows/Light, To pause/Unpause the time, and to also Set time, will bring the world into life. NPC Support so that only certain time of the day will certain NPCS spawn to support this.

Cursed with the Spirit of a Wolf Lupen transform every night to a wolf, changing the way he fights from an Ranger/Archer to a Ranger/Brawler, still able to use his magic in both forms of course. He is also able to transform at will but only when enraged or in trouble.
